Halloween Lantern-Making

On Wednesday, October 26th, 2022, we hosted our first Halloween lantern-making activity at the MakerSpace on Sexton Campus. This Skill-Building Workshop focused on laser-cutting and soldering. We had reached capacity at about 20 attendees!

Wood working: Furniture build

Thanks to Dalhousie Mechanical Engineering Department who provided the materials and workshop and engineers who came to supervised and mentored; our members spent a Saturday afternoon in September in workshop woodworking 3D scaled models.

Entreprenurial workshop

During the start of Fall semester 2022, we hosted out Entrepreneurial Skill-Building Workshop! We got to hear Sara Fedullo, CEO and co-founder of Hollo Medical talk about her entrepreneurial journey, and Veronica Merryfield talk about engineering ethics. We hoped that this event would give students the opportunity to advance their entrepreneurial skills such as technical and business management.

iNTRO TO ARDUINO AND ELECTRONICS

In 2020, we hosted an introductory workshop to Arduino and electronics. The workshop focused on:

  • What is an Arduino and how do I get started with it?

  • Moving motors and controlling real-world devices from Arduino

  • Introduction to coding in Arduino IDE
